Microchipping

Microchipping your pet gives them the best chance of being identified and returned to you if they get lost or stolen. While collars and tags can get caught or removed, microchipping identifies your pet permanently and effectively.

Microchipping dogs is a legal requirement in England, and will be too for cats from June 2024. Dogs must also wear a collar with an ID tag.

A pet microchip is the size of a grain of rice, and is easily and painlessly injected under the skin. The microchip can then be scanned, which will show a unique number. When this number is entered onto a universal pet database, your details will show up.

We also microchip pets such as tortoises, birds and ferrets.
